Darius is strong and healthy because he loves his bicycle a lot and he does not want to leave it ("I have to take my bicycle...it's the only thing I own that I care about." Darius moaned.) He loves his father very much and misses him a lot ("I shall fix the bicycle and find my father") He is adventurous because he likes to explore like going on a flying bicycle (" I will make a flying bicycle and look for my dad") Darius is polite by caring (Instead he was polite and asked, "May I help you?") He is brave because he did not give up on getting out of the house to find his caretaker even though his aunt was very mean. He is smart because he reads books and goes to the library and he knows how to fix bicycles ("How he loved the glorious smell of books!") and he was happy to see all the books open on the desk.

from love to the unknown

page 17

Darius waved one last time before katrina zarnoff. pushed him into the backseat of the shiny black car. as they drove away Darius pressed his face against the car window and watched miss Hastings grow smaller and smaller. when the car turned the corner the housekeeper and the house disappeared entirely.

I picked this sentence because it is the beginning of an unknown journey for him and he has to leave everything he loves and cares for behind to begin a new life

The base of the story is that Darius has lost his father. A bunch of lawyers came to the house and told Darius he needs to live with your relative, Aunt Inga and he has to leave everything he knows and loves, including his nanny

the cost of life

There is nothing in life that comes free. Always, there is a "fee" attached to it and sometimes it is a hidden cost and sometimes clearly visible. A hidden cost is like when someone gives you something but expect something in return, maybe not immediately. Most of the time the costs are there like when you buy things.
Other hidden costs can also be like the pain you suffer for different reasons. Physical pain caused by an injury may not be that "expensive" but emotional and mental pain can burn a hole in ones life, i.e. it can shorten ones life.
The cost of a thing is the amount of what I call life which is required to be exchanged for it, immediately or in the long run.
Thoreau, Henry David
